Holiday Meals For Families
Challenge
The holiday season is a time for joy and celebration, but for many young people and families struggling with tough situations like homelessness, substance abuse, poverty, and violence, it can be a particularly difficult time. This was the case for the residents of Huckleberry House, an organization dedicated to providing support and housing for these vulnerable populations.
Goal
Things That Matter recognized this challenge and knew we had to take action to help. We set a goal to provide meals for over 75 people in the Huckleberry House housing program, as well as to create a special holiday experience for the young people and families living there.
Solution
We at Things That Matter sprang into action, utilizing our network of members to secure donations for the meals. We also organized a team of volunteers to serve the meals and engage in holiday games and activities with the residents of Huckleberry House. Additionally, we partnered with a local lounge, Noir Lounge, to provide a holiday party/event where volunteers and members who donated were rewarded with a free drink.
The result of our collaboration was a heartwarming holiday experience for the residents of Huckleberry House, who were able to enjoy a delicious meal and fun activities with caring volunteers. We were proud to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need and to bring a little holiday cheer to the community.
